The organization is primarily a shelter for women and children who have experienced domestic abuse, and it assists them with home placement, job placement and education. Leakes suffered an abusive relationship for five years and knows firsthand the importance of this kind of support and hopes to be a voice for women who have suffered from domestic abuse.

At the age of two, Melissa Gilbert made her on-air debut modeling baby clothes and continued with over 32 television commercials until 1973, when the nine-year-old joined the cast of "Little House on the Prairie," continuing with the number one rated series for 10 years.
Over the years, Gilbert has continued to bring powerful stories to the small screen, starting at age fourteen with the Emmy award-winning "The Miracle Worker," co-starring Patty Duke and Melissa subsequently starred in "The Diary of Anne Frank," "Splendor in the Grass," "Family Secrets" with Maureen Stapleton, and "Choices of the Heart".
She starred in "Christmas in My Hometown" where CBS had their highest ratings ever on a Tuesday night, as well as the CBS drama "Cries from the Heart," with co-star Patty Duke. She's also starred in "Seduction in a Small Town" and "Childhood Sweetheart" and "Jackie Collins' Hollywood Wives: The New Generation" opposite Farrah Fawcett. Melissa also starred in the highly rated hallmark Channel movie "Thicker than Water" and the acclaimed series "Nip'Tuck".

Niecy Nash is the sum of many things. The St. Louis Native knows that life shapes us; it either makes us stronger or beats us down. Growing up wasn't easy and in 1985 Niecy witnessed her mother getting shot and wounded by an ex-boyfriend and her brother being shot and killed at his high school. The only way she could lift her mother out of her depression was to make her laugh. From that moment the meaning of laughter became a career.
Niecy has since achieved her dream by becoming an actress, as well as a wife and a mother of three over the last seventeen years. When asked what her hobbies are, Niecy proudly replies, "Motherhood" which she considers her greatest success in life.
